What Size to make a throw type blanket?

I plan on making a blanket for my best friend as a birthday blanket, I want to make a blanket that is a little bigger than the size of an average throw but would not like it to be bigger than the size of a twin blanket. What size do you think I should make it?

A standard twin blanket is 66×85"
throw blankets 50×60"

2 yards of fabric is 72" and you can buy it 54" wide,
so after sewing the hem it would be about 71×53"
A little larger than a typical throw and smaller than a twin,
so around the perfect size you were planning.

How can I make a Barney and Friends baby blanket?

My sister was a HUGE fan of Barney growing up. She would like nothing more from me than a Barney baby blanket for her baby which she is due with soon. I have searched several stores and their sites and found NO barney fabric…How can I make a barney blanket without using the fabric with Barney already on it?

If you can find an image of Barney on something, then trace and color that image onto paper. You can make iron-on images by using a printer and iron-on paper from Office Depot (or Office Max, or Staples). Then iron the images onto whatever blanket material you want, and sew the edges of the blanket.
