ELECTRIC BLANKET cleaning advice?

Monday, February 8th, 2010

Could I put an electric blanket (coils are never used, just the blanket itself) in the dryer on just AIR? If I’m right, that doesn’t use any hot air, correct? Let me know, please. THANKS!

I wash mine (coils and all) in the gentle cycle, then throw it in the dryer on low heat. Just make sure it doesn’t over-dry. It should be fine. I’ve washed mine like that so many times already with no problems.

I am looking for something like an electric blanket, except that you canlay on top of. Is there such a thing?

Friday, February 5th, 2010

I know electric blankets are only supposed to be on top of you or you can break the wires.

You need to look for an electric mattress pad. Walmart has them for about $40, depending on the size.

need a heating pad that remains hot, not the detect body temp types, also an electric blanket?

Thursday, February 4th, 2010

The only heating pads I can find will not stay hot. I would like to purchase a pad and an electric blanket that were manufactured several years ago.. The type that you could put on a setting and it would get hot and remain that way. The most prevalent brand in stores today are Sunbeam and they are not satifactory for my needs.. Several years ago, they were great.

I know exactly what you are talking about. The manufacturers of heating pads and electric blankets have incorporated the ’smart’ features for consumer safety that will cut off after a while to prevent accidental burns and potential lawsuits. I do not think you can find any of the old type of pads or blankets now.

How to clean vomit from pillows/electric blanket and woolen blanket?

Thursday, February 4th, 2010

I had a few drinks but I think I must have gotten food poisoning as well, as I vomited in my bed in the middle of the night and then all the next day, I couldn’t cold down anything down, even water (and still felt like death for the next couple of days). The problem was I wasn’t up to dealing with it when it happened and the vomit soaked though onto my pillows, my electric blanket and my woolen under blanket- how do I clean these?? I’d be sooo appreciative for advice because I don’t know where to start! :S

1. Throw the pillow out.

2. Wash the electic blanket.

3.Take the blanket to the cleaners and tell them what’s on it.
