Question about using a baby blanket for a newborn?

Saturday, February 13th, 2010

I posted a similar question about dressing a newborn in sleepwear, but my question now is if baby is wearing a t-shirt, diaper, socks, and a thin sleepsack or t-shirt, diaper, and fleece footed pajamas, would he need a blanket too? If so, should it be thin or thick? I have about 2 wks to go and I just want to be prepared. Thanks!
Or, should the sleepsack just serve as the blanket, in which case, he would wear a t-shirt, diaper, pants, and socks?
Thanks a bunch!

No, the sleepsack replaces the need for blankets and is a great way to help create a safe sleeping environment for your baby.

Sleeping baby on his back and eliminating excess crib accessories (such as toys, bumpers etc), as well as replacing sheets and blankets with a sleepsack are a couple of things we can all do to prevent our little ones from falling victim to SIDS. Overheating can be a contributing factor as well, so make sure you choose a sleepsack made of a natural fabric such as merino or cotton. Polyester doesn’t tend to breath as much and can cause your baby to become hot and sweaty.

What newborn sleepsack are you thinking about using? Even though it’s a little more expensive, I ended up going with a newborn merino sleepsack that I bought on www.babysleepbags.com because it’s able to regulate baby’s body temperature and keep him comfortable.

We’ve been dressing him in his sleepsack at night for a few months now and he’s able to soothe himself and sleep soundly through the night without getting overheated and cranky. I LOVE them!!

Good luck with your little one ;)

Looking for any anime/manga/Japanese bed sets, blankets, comforters, etc.?

Friday, January 29th, 2010

Looking for any anime/manga/Japanese bed sets, blankets, comforters, etc.? The only thing I’ve been able to find is 2 totoro blankets (okay but $$) and pink hello kitty everything. (ugly, blech) I really would enjoy a monokuro boo bed set, or a place where you can buy any kind of blanket from animes or anything practically at all? Thanks~

Well…I found pillows. http://www.gkworld.com/c=SUz3UeuE39MaMXrEf9Z4snBZX/category/pillows/

And here are a few blankets…

What stores sell the New Moon Jacob fleece blanket?

Friday, January 29th, 2010

I really need one for my sister. This is my first Christmas where I actually have money to shop and I want the perfect gifts.
I probably can’t afford the overpriced ones being sold by resellers on Ebay. What retail or online stores carry them – at the retail price, not the rediculous 50$ price.
Stupid, pointless, non serious answers reported
I work at a Borders too, in IPT. We only have the Edward one at my store. Gah!

sadly enough i was laughing at the question and read it out loud to my Girl friend and my sister and my gf yells out (WE SELL IT) she works at borders book store lol. good luck

How can I get a good cleaning to a white satin/fleece blanket that my 3 year old won’t part with.?

Thursday, January 28th, 2010

I have washed it several times, and several times in one day and still it is suppose to be white but its a grayish color. He has had it since birth and he is now 3. We have tried buying him a new one but he gives them to his brother. I try not to use bleach because it bothers my asthma. And I have tried everything over the counter. Help

Try oxy clean in your washer with regular laundry soap. Good luck!

Decorative Bedding Ideas For The Newlywed

Tuesday, January 19th, 2010

Wedding is one of those events in life that changes everything. Drastically. And among the many things that getting married overhauls without giving much adjustment period is the bedding to be used by the newly married couple. It is therefore important to get the couple’s bedding choices right the first time.

Thankfully, decorative beddings come in a wide range of choices. Decorative beddings can match any mood for any occasion. As the new couple is most likely to explore their new bed on their first few nights together as partners, good decorative bedding accessories should enable them to make up their own unique sense of bedding style.

As a newly wed, you should remember that your bed is one place where you and your spouse can get to know each other better and perhaps contemplate the future of your relationship. Your bed is one accessory that can make or break your marriage. It is important that you should always try your best to make your bed irresistible for your better half. A bed that you and your spouse would long for even when you are in your respective offices will work like magic in your married life.

While decorative beddings surely help in setting your bedroom atmosphere according to your liking, you might find bedding dilemmas because of the differences between you and your partner in marriage. The following are the basic pointers to assist you in choosing how to utilize your decorative bedding accessories to the fullest. Read on and good luck.

The most important part of the house, for newly wed couple, is the bedroom. As said, this is the place where you will spend most of your time, enjoying the company of each other. Thus, you need to try to use a bedding ensemble that will delight all of your spouse’s sense of sight, smell, and touch.

A simple bedroom can be brightened and beautified by the beddings you use. Since this is a special occasion, you should take particular care in choosing bed accessories that are beautiful and pleasing to the eyes. If you can afford it, you should use laced sheets with intricate floral or geometrical patterns. Such sheets will give your bed an elegant and clean and crisp look. If you are on a budget, just select bed ensemble that has beautiful colors and romantic designs such as stylish roses and hearts in deep red or burgundy.

For an expensive look, you can opt to buy designer beddings. Your spouse’s eyes will pop if he or she sees that you did not scrimp on your beddings. Moreover, most designer beddings have beautiful designs and bright colors that can surely match the design and mood of the room.

Aside from being elegant and exquisite, you beddings should also incite romance through its smell or fragrance. Thus, you can use lavender or rose water to make your bedding fragrant. Know what scents delights your spouse, and use that scent to encourage long romantic nights of cuddling. You can use jasmine, vanilla and even chocolate scents. Experiment and be imaginative.

Please do not use cotton sheets during the first few months after your wedding. Select something that is much more romantic and luxurious to the touch such as satin or silk. A silky satin sheet, even with no design, can visually invoke pleasure and romance.

If you cannot splurge on silk sheets, just look for an alternative with a high TPI, or thread per inch. A bed sheet with a TPI over 250 is already soft and comfortable to the touch. It may not be as elegant as satin or lace sheets, but it is economical and practical.

You can make your bed and bedroom more romantic by placing the right accessories. If you cannot buy silk sheets, just use silk pillows and cashmere blankets. Moreover, set the mood by hanging nets or sheer fabric over your poster bed. You can make your fantasies real with the help of bed accessories, so don’t limit yourself and give in to your imagination.

For a more pleasurable and romantic evening, do not forget the scented candles, mood music, and dim lighting. Cover your lamp with a red scarf to achieve that rose-colored lighting.

Is it weird that i still sleep with my baby blanket?

Friday, January 1st, 2010

I still sleep with my baby blanket. I don’t like cuddle it, it just sits in the corner of my bed by the wall. Im 14. Is this weird? If so, how can i get rid of sleeping with it?

Ahaha that’s cute lol

If you want to get rid of it, buy a new blanket that seems more "mature" to you and put it in the same spot.

Good Luck with that;)

Thursday, October 22nd, 2009

i know how to knit quite well, but its really had for me to cast on 100 stitches. i wont have a sewing machine. is there any was to make a CUTE baby blanket without one?

Yes you can! One idea is to make a fleece tie blanket with just two pieces of fleece and scissors.

Here are some instructions;

You are only limited by what cute fleece you can find. It’s also cute to make a smaller doll size one for a girl to have a matching one for her dolly. :)

Good luck.

How do I make a fleece tie blanket??

Tuesday, October 20th, 2009

I want to make a twin size, full size and King size tie blanket. I have not made one yet and need some info on how. Also, I want to make a fleece tie pillow…Anyone know how?
Any suggestions to where I can get CHEAP fleece.

My friend made me one for Christmas all you have to do is stretch out the fleece and lay them out so they are the same…then cut little lines in both and then just knot them together…Do it all the way around. Just keep it straight.
Try Wal-mart for the cheapest…or maybe a craft store!!

Hope this helped and good luck to you!!

How do I stop my cat from urinating on my carpet/blankets/upholstered chairs/couch, BED???

Friday, October 16th, 2009

We have 3 cats. One of them has been urinating all over my things. I caught her doing it so I know it’s her. They’re all spayed/neutered. She is absolutely our baby and definetaly the most traumatized from the shelter so I understand. But I can’t have a house that smells of cat urine. I need some help. I spoke to the shelter and they suggested I keep the litter clean ALWAYS. I should lock her in a room with her own litter box and they even suggested I put down a towel for her to use as a litter box. None of these things worked. She’ll go right after I clean the box, and once she’s peed on her favorite mat, she goes on to bigger and better things like my couch or BED. ANY suggestions besides these? I’m spent.
The vet was a good idea but I should add that she was doing it before she was spayed and continues after. It’s been about 3 months since she’s been spayed and they found nothing wrong with her at the vet. :(
She is also not declawed.

Try reintroducing her to a litterbox. To do this you must get a kennel big enough for a litterbox and some bedding. She will be forced to use her litterbox now. She won’t pee on her own bedding. This will take some time to achieve this goal but it’s very effective and the end results are very rewarding. I also wanted to know if she is declawed? Sometimes that can be a cause due to the litter getting stuck in between her toes, if that’s the case then shredded toilet paper works wonders in place of litter. Good luck!

What electric blanket should we buy?

Friday, October 16th, 2009

What’s the best electric blanket to get? For what it’s worth, we have a Cal King bed, but I’m not really sure that’s relevant.

I’m cheap, my partner’s a spendthrift, so whatever you recommend will satisfy one of us.

if you do get an electric blanket, make sure it’s pluged into a GFI outlet. therfore if it shorts out it’ll just trip the outlet, not your brain waves. you can get a GFI that plugs into a standard outlet, and plug the blanket into it.

as for sugestion: BUY NEW! DO NOT buy a used electric blanket as this may be unsafe!

i use a sunbeam electric blanket. it’s certified and works great, however i only use it to heat up my bed 5 minuites before in get in it and turn it off before i fall asleep. it has a thermostat to shut off at a selected temp but i just feel safer shutting it off while i sleep.

Old or damaged blankets cause more than 5,000 fires a year. Research has shown that electric blankets ten years old (or older) still in use in homes in Britain are responsible for 99% of the fires caused by electric blankets. And each year 20 people are killed and 100 injured in such fires. Local testing events by Trading Standards departments, The Fire Service and the voluntary sector are a further valuable means of reducing such accidents.

good luck and dont burn you house down!
