Elmo the Dog – Staticky Hair due to a fleece blanket

Wednesday, February 17th, 2010

Watch in HQ please

Elmo was sleeping under the fleece blanket and when he wiggled out his hair was all static.
He looks a little sleepy but he’s awake because I freaked out and took out the camera to catch the static before it disappears.

How To Choose Furniture For Your Bedrooms.

Friday, February 12th, 2010

Bedroom is a room where has the most privacy in your house. So bedroom arrangement then only depends on the personal preference of the owner. However, you should consider about the suitability of furniture that you are going to use for your bedroom such as bed size, which must large enough to make you use bedroom most comfortable.

The size of the bed should not too big in order to have the space in a bedroom left for other use, such as space for walking around the bed and enough space for you to clean the room very convenient. In case if you have a small bedroom, you should choose a bed that has wheels equipped in order to make it easier for cleaning.

The size of a mattress that you use should correspond to the size of the bed.

In nowadays there are plenty of various kinds of mattress available such as spring mattress, sponge mattress, fiber coconut mattress, fiber coconut mixed with sponge mattress, kapok mattress, rubber/tire mattress etc. The selection of mattress to use in a bedroom also depends on the age of the person who use it, for example, teens should use softer mattress than the ones for adults, which should be a bit harder, such as fiber coconut mattress.

Generally the lifetime of a mattress is between 10-15 years. However, lifetime of mattress also depends on the way that you use and how proper you maintenance them. For example, rubber/tire mattress must not be placed entirely against the sunlight. Meanwhile kapok mattress should be placed where the sunlight can reach through. Sponge mattress should be taken to face the sunlight sometime for sterilized. However you should constantly turn the mattress over in order to maintain the softness to be equal on both side and keep it to have no bad smell.

The bed should not be too high, in case of accident you may falling from the bed during sleep and you should choose a bed that has no sharp corner angle or if it has sharp corner angle, you may have to stick shockproof material to protect in case the bed bumping against other furniture/wall and damage.

The blankets must thick enough to maintain the warmth but, should not be too heavy in weight. You should choose pillows that have enough softness for your convenient during sleep, especially this will benefit to elder people’s health. In case of arranging bedroom for old people, you should also provide water container and necessary medicine for them too.

Wardrobe is another important furniture in a bedroom that can not be overlooked

Generally, the standard size of the cabinet used in bedroom should be about 50-70 centimeters wide, but the most popular size is 60 centimeters wide and the wardrobe should have the height about 180-200 centimeter.

The cabinet should have the size that large enough when open, so you will be able to see all stuff within the cabinet. But if you have small bedroom you should use the removable cabinet.

is it OK to give 5 month old baby blanket?

Saturday, January 30th, 2010

My baby has trouble falling asleep on his own. Is it ok to give him a teether blanket to keep him occupied as he goes to sleep or will he depend on it if I continue to do this. I will take it out of crib as soon as he falls asleep.

I don’t see anything wrong with it as long as you are taking it out of his crib once he falls asleep. The only reason I would be taking it out of the crib is because of SIDS, but as far as him becoming dependent on it I wouldn’t worry too much about that. The blanket isn’t any different than having a pacifier to go to sleep. I think you are doing great! If that gets him to sleep then keep on doing it. :-)

Why do my bed sheets, my pajamas, my blankets, etc. smell bad after I sleep in them a few times?

Friday, January 29th, 2010

like, I just changed into my PJ’s and they smell pretty bad
so do my bed sheets
and my blanket
but…why??

Washing and drying them.
Dont let them dry out all crumpled up you need to let the air at them. If Your allowing them to dry like this the soap powder and enzymes in the soap powder will deteriorate causing a smell. Put a perfumed fabric conditioner in the wash or better still buy a tumble dryer and put a fabric conditioner towel in the tumble dryer

Why is our electric blanket doing this to us?

Friday, January 29th, 2010

My partner and I recently got a new electric blanket. Occasionally, if we sleep with it on, we get this tingly sensation if we touch each other. For example, if I have my side switched on, and he touches me, he can feel it. If I turn it off, the sensation stops, then restarts if I turn it back on.
I googled it, and found many people getting the same thing, but no explanation on what causes it.
Any ideas?
(No, we’re not sleeping with it turned on anymore…)

The blanket has a short. Stop using it & return it.

soon to be 19 year old still sleeps with baby blanket and rag doll?

Friday, January 29th, 2010

my 18 year old will be 19 in a few months and is still clinging to her baby blanket and rag doll. she still sleeps with it every night, and it doesn’t bother me at all, but she cannot sleep without it which is worrysome. is this normal for someone her age? should i be worried?

Speaking as a 30-something who had a blanket and a stuffed dog that stayed on my bed through college – and after until I got married – it isn’t really harmful at all. I didn’t NEED it to sleep, but it was comforting having something around. And… when I made my bed each morning, the dog and blanket just ended up in between all of the pillows. They were part of the bed. My roommates in college all (yup, all 4 of us) had some kind of something that we kept on our beds and slept with.
Now – at my age – I know exactly where my blanket and dog are in the house and when I have a really really bad day or I’m really frustrated and I just want some comfort, I pull them out and take a really good nap (or sleep really well that night.) It really is just a comfort thing. I know at least 2 of my old roommates are in the same boat with this – we keep them around to soothe our stresses in this hectic world.
YES, my husband knows about this. He says he totally understands and is really supportive. I guess he’d rather that I drown my stress in a blanket and puppy and sleep occasionally than have some other habit of drinking or drugs to help me cope. (He keeps his in a chest in the bedroom – he doesn’t use them for anything – but likes knowing they are there… memories and associations with childhood things are often strong – and not necessarily unhealthy.)
My goodness – if all it takes is a blanket and doll to get a girl through – nothing wrong with that.

Honest answers please: How often do you change your bed spreads, pillow cases, sheets, wash your blankets?

Wednesday, January 27th, 2010

I would like to change them every other day but mostly I go for a week and change them. We do not let the dog sleep on our bed. He has his own bed beside my side of the bed and he sleeps with me but on the floor.

I think it you let your animals on the bed your should wash things more often.

I wash the bed pad and the blankets about once a month or perhaps more often

my cat likes to chew on a fleece blanket?

Tuesday, January 26th, 2010

at night when i’m sleep my cat like’s to chew on my fleece blanket while purring and kneading it with it’s claws with his back arched. almost like he’s humping it. if i touch him he meows and if i take the blanket from him and throw it he goes and gets it and brings it back. he only does it here i sleep at if i switch beds he’ll bring it to my bed. he’s been doing this since he was a kitten with different fleece matrials. is he mastrubating?

There is an actual term for this. It’s called "wool munching" and no I’m not kidding. I used to have a cat that did this constantly. It happens when kittens, for one reason or another, get weaned before they are ready. It is a mimicking of their suckling and just helps to make them feel safe and secure. It has absolutely nothing to do with masturbation or sexual maturity at all.
